Frequently Asked Questions

At Walks and Wags Wiltshire, we know that choosing someone to care for your pets is a big decision. Your pets are family — and you want to be confident they’re in safe, capable, and caring hands.

To help put your mind at ease, we’ve answered some of the most common questions we receive about our services, policies, and day-to-day care. Whether you're a first-time client or a returning one, our goal is to make the process simple, transparent, and reassuring.

If you have any additional questions or would like to discuss your pet’s specific needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re always happy to chat.

🏥 Are you pet first aid trained?

Yes — all of our pet carers are fully trained in pet first aid, and we follow a comprehensive Health & Safety policy that is reviewed annually.

To minimise risk, we limit our walks to no more than three dogs per carer, ensuring each dog receives the attention and control they deserve.

In the unlikely event of an emergency:

  • We will attempt to take your pet to their registered vet, where possible.

  • If time is critical, your pet will be taken to the nearest available veterinary practice.

  • We will contact you immediately and keep you informed throughout.

🐕 How many dogs do you walk at once?

We always seek your permission before including your dog in a group walk. If you choose group walking for socialisation and enrichment, your dog will be walked in a small group of no more than three dogs per walker. This ensures each dog receives focused attention, safety, and supervision.

Unlike some walkers who manage large packs, we deliberately limit group size to prevent risks such as disease transmission, bullying, fights, and injuries. Our approach prioritises your dog’s wellbeing and ensures every walk is enjoyable, safe, and stress-free.

🚗 My pet needs to go to the vet. Will you take them?

Yes, we offer a reliable and caring pet taxi service to transport your dog, cat, or small animals like rabbits and hamsters to veterinary appointments. We understand that vet visits can be stressful for both pets and owners, so we handle all transports with the utmost care and attention.

To arrange this service, please contact us in advance with the appointment details. We’ll coordinate pick-up and drop-off times that suit your schedule and ensure your pet arrives safely and on time.

If your pet requires assistance during the visit (such as waiting or medication administration), please let us know so we can accommodate your needs.

🐕‍🦺 Do you walk our dog(s) from home or elsewhere, and when does the walk time start?

Typically, we start walks from your home if there are suitable parks nearby. We believe that socialisation and variety are important, so with your permission, we may also drive your dog to nearby parks for a more stimulating walk.

Our vehicles are safe, secure, and regularly checked to ensure your pet’s comfort during travel. If you prefer your dog to be walked only from home without any car travel, that is completely fine — we will always respect your wishes.

Please note, the walk time begins when the actual walk starts. Any travel time to or from a park is separate and does not count toward the walk duration.
